Medan-Bukit Lawang - Toba meer - Padangsidempuan - Bukittingi - Sungaipenuh - Lubuk Linggau |
||||
|
Danau Ranau - Way Kanan - Kalianda - Jakarta/Bogor (24 days) |
||||
|
You will be picked up from the airport in Medan and brought to your hotel in the city. The next day you leave for Bukit Lawang at the Leuser National Park. At the Bohorok Orang Utang rehabilitation centre, you can have a close look at the orang outangs in their natural environment. You stay two nights in In Bukit Lawang. Via Berastagi you leave for Lake Toba (2 n.). On Samosir island it is easiest to explore the surrounding by foot, bike or motorcycle. It is also possible to take a boat around the island. There are several interesting places and villages to visit on this small island. |
||||
After
Lake Toba you go to Padangsidempuan, where you stay for the night. The
following day you pass the equator (Bonjol) and head for Bukittingi,
the cultural and intellectual centre of the Minangkabau
people. Here you will discover the interesting tradition and culture of
West Sumatra. From Bukittingi you make a day tour via a spectaculair
winding road to the vulcanic lake of “Maninjau”. You
stay 3 nights at Bukittingi. The next destination is
Sungaipenuh (3) in the province Bengkulu, on the border
with West Sumatra. Sungaipenuh is situated at the
Kerinci valley. North of the valley is the highest mountain in Indonesia,
the Gunung
Kerinci. South is Danau Kerinci, a scenic mountain
lake.
|
||||
| Many interesting villages which you can visit surround the valley. After the Kerinci valley you leave for Lubuk Linggau (2 n.) where you can make a scenic river trip; passing lively small river villages while enjoying the beautiful nature. | ||||
| Via an overnight in Lahat you leave for lake Ranau (2 n.), a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. Maybe this Danau Ranau is the most beautiful lake of Sumatra. You stay in a bungalow with a wonderful view over the lake. | ||||
You
will leave Lake Ranau for Way Kambas in the province Lampung, where
you will visit the elephant training centre. Wild elephants are trained to
be useful on several projects (and to entertain visitors!). A good
initiative of the province Lampung. Many elephants were killed by the
population because they distroyed their villages. Now by using the
elephants on several projects, they are not only protected but also
useful to the population. You stay in Way Kanan (2 n.), in a very simple
basic camp at a riverbank in the jungle. A boat trip on the Way
Kanan river gives you a view over the beautiful flora and fauna. The park is
well known for the many tropical bird species.
|
||||
| Your last destination in Sumatra is Kalianda (2 n.), situated on the most southern tip of Sumatra (around 3 hours from Java). A beautiful and quiet beach town, not yet discovered by many tourists. From Kalianda you can make a boat trip to the (in)famous Krakatau vulcano or just relax at the white beaches and explore the surrounding. | ||||
| When
crossed over with the ferry to Java, we will bring you as wished to
Jakarta or Bogor. The next day we will bring you to the airport of Jakarta
or you extend your trip and travel further with us to West
Java. You can start this tour also from Jakarta
and end in Medan.
The above route is an example for a tour, you decide for your self the duration and the route of the tour.
